HOLLYWOOD—It was indeed an interesting weekend at the box-office with quite a few surprises with “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Daddy’s Home 2” and “Murder on the Orient Express” all vying for moviegoers money. In the end it was a guy with a new hairdo, a hammer and a comic book fav who would reign supreme for the second consecutive weekend.

Yup, “Thor: Ragnarok” took the top spot adding another $56 million to its tally to bring its domestic total to over $200 million in just 10 days. Very impressive people and it’s a safe bet that we’ll see a third sequel in the “Thor” franchise in the coming years.

It was a close battle for second place, but it was the sequel “Daddy’s Home 2” that came out on top against “Murder on the Orient Express.” Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Mel Gibson and John Lithgow left audiences falling out their seats with an impressive $30 million haul. It’s not as large as the debut of its predecessor, which took in a little over $38 million in 2015. Johnny Deep, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench and an all-star cast helped “Murder on the Orient Express” earn a third place debut with just over $28 million. The numbers could slightly adjust when official receipts come in on Monday, but it looks like “Daddy’s Home 2” will still reign supreme.

The comedy “A Bad Mom’s Christmas” nabbed fourth place with $11.5 million edging itself closer to the $40 million mark at the domestic box-office. Rounding out the top five was the horror flick “Jigsaw” with $3.4 million. This weekend will prove rather DC Comics has a chance against Marvel as “Justice League” arrives in theaters. However, that won’t be the only flick hitting theaters as “Wonder” starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay arrives in theaters.
