San Jose, CA — A single-vehicle collision on Monday morning, December 8, 2024, claimed the life of a driver in South San Jose, according to NBC Bay Area.
The San Jose Police Department reports that the incident occurred around 9:45 AM near Snell Avenue and Truckee Lane.
Authorities reported that a white Ford Mustang veered off the roadway, colliding with a tree and a section of a nearby home. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The impact caused structural damage to part of the residence, though no injuries to the home’s occupants were reported.
Southbound Snell Avenue was closed between The Woods Drive and Rosenbaum Avenue for several hours as investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
The name of the victim and additional details have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and ask anyone with any relevant information to come forward.
Single-Vehicle Collisions and Comparative Negligence
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.
California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
