CHICAGO—On Monday, August 10, the Evanston Police Department (EPD) announced that first-degree murder charges against three men: Tyree Hooper, 22; Terrence Hooper, 23; and Ronald Green, 23. They were involved in the death of Andrew Williams, 29 in Evanston, Illinois, on July 26.

The EPD responded to a report of a shooting on the 1900 block of Hartrey Avenue at 3 p.m., on July 26. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found a man on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was later identified as Andrew Williams, 26, of Evanston.

According to reports, Williams was shot on his way from home to his friend’s car. The victim was planning on buying ice for his own birthday party. He was transported to NorthShore University Health System Evanston Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to a statement by EPD, the witnesses saw two men with face masks get out from a vehicle, shoot the victim, then flee the scene.

Amid the investigation of the incident, the EPD and members of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) reviewed surveillance video and interviewed witnesses. They found out that three offenders were involved in this homicide.

The Evanston Police Department indicated that all three offenders are held in the Cook County Jail with no bond. An information sheet from Cook County Government website notes, the next court date of the three offenders will appear at the Skokie Courthouse on September 3.
