SAN FRANCISCO—On December 4, the San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón revealed that a jury found Jose Francisco Gonzalez, 51, of San Francisco, guilty of two counts of forced oral copulation, one count of forced lewd acts upon a child, and one count of committing a lewd act upon a child.

According to a press release from the SFDA’s Office, the victim was a six-year-old boy. Gonzalez faces a maximum term of life in prison. A sentencing date has not been determined.

“The facts of this case are extremely disturbing,” said Gascón.  “Ensuring such men never touch another child is some of the most important work we do.”

According to court records, Gonzalez, who was a family friend, rented a room from a San Francisco family.  Over a period of several months, he babysat for the family’s two boys, ages six and three, while his mother worked a night shift.

In March 2017, the victim’s three-year-old brother disclosed to his mother that he saw his older brother fellate Gonzalez. This disclosure led the six-year-old to reveal that over the course of several months, while his mom was working and the suspect babysat for him, the Defendant forced the six-year-old to fellate him, engaged in oral copulation of the six-year-old, and put his finger in the six-year-old boy’s anus.

At trial, the victim described Gonzalez as his “big best friend.”  He informed the six-year-old not to tell his mother because it would make him cry.  The three-year-old child testified at trial that, “We were keeping it a secret… but it’s not a secret anymore.”

“We hope this verdict gives the victim and his family some measure of comfort,” said Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Schmidt.
