SAN FRANCISCO—On Friday, December 20, the SFDA’s Office disclosed that Jose Ramos, 39, has been charged with multiple felonies in connection with the alleged possession and sale of controlled substances in the Tenderloin. He is charged with two counts of transportation, sale and giving away of controlled substances (H&S 11352(a)), three count of possession for sale of controlled substances (H&S 11351), and one count of possession for sale of methamphetamine (H&S 11378).
The criminal complaint also alleges that Ramos possessed a substance containing more than one ounce of more than one ounce of fentanyl (H&S 11370.4(c)(1)(A)). He was scheduled to be arraigned on December 20 at the Hall of Justice. The District Attorney’s Office moved to have him detained pending trial due to the public safety risk he poses.
According to court documents, the defendant is a convicted felon and has two convictions for transportation, sale and giving away of controlled substances (H&S 11352(a)) and is currently on probation. He has allegedly sold drugs to undercover SFPD officers numerous times. Allegedly, on December 11, at 5:39 a.m., he sold 1.9 grams of cocaine base for $6 to an undercover officer at Hyde and Ellis St. The next day on December 12, at 5:30 a.m., he allegedly sold 3 grams of cocaine base for $50 to an undercover officer and allegedly told the officer he “worked” from 9:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m.
On December 18, at 9:44 p.m., officers with the San Francisco Police Department arrested Jose Ramos at 711 Leavenworth Street. Officers searched him and found 30.9 grams of fentanyl, 26.8 grams of methamphetamine, 23.7 grams of cocaine, and nine grams of suspected heroin. He was also found to be in violation of a stay away order as a condition of his probation.
