CASTRO VALLEY—Two people were found dead inside a Castro Valley home on the 20500 block of Forest Avenue on Wednesday, June 26. Deputies from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department were conducting a welfare check on the home when they discovered the deceased bodies. Authorities determined the cause of death was the result of gunshot wounds.

Deputies received a call at around 10:15 a.m. from a relative requesting a welfare check. Authorities found the bodies in a separate guest house, and the victims may have been dead for several days. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, but it has been confirmed that the victims were male and female.

Sgt. Ray Kelly, Public Information Officer for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department issued the following statement on their Facebook page:

“The crime scene and condition of the victims have made it difficult to determine the circumstances of the deaths. In an abundance of caution, detectives will treat the investigation as a double murder. An autopsy and further crime scene analysis may change this circumstance. We will update you once we know that information.”
