SAN FRANCISCO—On Monday, November 24, Michael Marquez, who was walking with two friends down Henry Street in the Duboce Triangle, was shot and killed by five men who jumped out of a car and robbed him at gunpoint.

Marquez’s smartphone and backpack were taken by the suspects.

The victim had been staying with his girlfriend’s family in the neighborhood, and died at the scene of the crime.

Family members have described Marquez as a caring, giving member of the community. He worked at a local restaurant where he was known to box-up extra food at the end of his shift and give it to the local homeless.

Police are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the SFPD at (415) 575-4444, or text TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
