UNITED STATES—A man allegedly wielded a gun in the face of Terry Pierce who was at Sam’s Club in Bowling Green, Kentucky with his wife, Cherrie on February 16. The couple were wearing, MAGA (Make America Great Again) hats.

Terry Pierce reported to WNKY that it appeared that Phillips had made a rude jester to the couple. His wife confronted the suspect, James Phillips of Cottonwood, Tennessee, asking Phillips, “Hey did you just flip me off?” Phillips responded, “It’s the hats you’ve got on.”

No photo description available.“Next thing I know, Terry told WNKY, he drew a .40 caliber and stuck it in my face. He told me, “This is a good day for you to die.”

Terry challenged Phillips informing him to either shoot or fight him. Phillips went with his mother who was shopping for groceries.

The couple followed Phillips out of the store and into the parking lot, which management at Sam’s Club advised him not to do.

“I have as much right to wear my hat and support my country and my President as he has not to,” Terry Pierce told WBKO.

Phillips told authorities he walked away from the couple and Pierce had come up behind him and put his hands on him. The surveillance video did not corroborate Phillips story.

Phillips was taken into custody by police where he was charged for wanton endangerment first degree. His bond was set at $10,000. Warren District Judge John Brown made the ruling on Phillips bond public defender requested it be reduced. Phillips hearing was held at the Warren County Justice Center.

Prosecutors revealed that Phillips had two previous weapons charges in Tennessee, one from 2009 and the other from 2013.
