UNITED STATES—New information has revealed that 59 people were killed, and more than 527 people were injured during the mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 1, at the hands of Stephen Paddock. Amongst those killed, included two off-duty police officers, one who has been identified as Charleston Hartfield. The shooting transpired from a hotel room inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino near the Las Vegas Strip.

Paddock, 64, who had been staying at the establishment since September 28 shot multiple rounds of gunfire from a window inside his room looking down on the Route 91 Harvest Fest, a country music festival that transpired at 10:08 p.m. There were more than 22,000 people at the event when the shooting started.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spoke to the media indicating that officers located Paddock’s room and found him deceased. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound as police entered his hotel room. They were able to locate his room because the countless gunfire set off the smoke alarm inside his room on the 32nd floor. Police found 23 guns inside the suspect’s room, who also utilized 2 platforms during the shooting.

Lombardo spoke on Monday, October 2 during a press conference where he revealed, “The only criminal background for [Paddock] was a citation from several years ago.” Reports revealed that Paddock did not suffer from mental illness, but his father, Benjamin Paddock was arrested for a bank robbery and was listed on the FBI’s most wanted list in the 1969 after escaping prison. He was arrested in Oregon in 1978 after living on the run for close to a decade.

Paddock’s brother, Eric spoke to the press revealing that his brother was a successful real estate investor and showed no signs of mental illness. He added the family is surprised by Paddock’s involvement in the crime. He also revealed that his brother was a retired accountant. He noted his brother did enjoy gambling. He was married twice, in 1977 and 1985, both ended in divorce and Paddock did not have any children.

“There’s absolutely no way I could conceive that my brother would shoot a bunch of people that he didn’t know,” Paddock said from outside his home to reporters on Monday. Some of the guns purchased during the shooting by Stephen Paddock were purchased from Guns & Guitars, a gun store in Mesquite.

Fox News spoke to Russell Bleck, a victim who was inside a tent at the time when the shooting transpired. Bleck captured video of the incident as it transpired, noting that the suspect shot rapidly with seven second intervals in between re-loading weapons to continue firing upon the patrons. The shooting is the deadliest in the United States history. Authorities have executed a search warrant at Paddock’s home in Mesquite, Nevada, where 19 additional weapons were discovered inside the home and thousands of rounds of ammunition were found.

According to reports, police were searching for Marilou Danley who was considered a person of interest in the incident, but is no longer believed to be involved in the shooting as she was out of the country at the time the incident transpired. Reports have revealed that Danley was Paddock’s girlfriend.

Musicians at the incident included country star Jason Aldean, who was taken off the stage by security after what was believed to be fireworks was actual gunfire.

Aldean took to Instagram writing: “Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still dont know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate.”

Videos of the incident transpiring have been unleased on social media where the rapid gunfire can be heard and people hitting the ground for protection. People were seen running during brief intervals when the fire transpired. Video shows the gunfire initiating whenever people started to flee the region. Police do not suspect the incident to be a result of terrorism and that the shooter acted alone during the incident. . A motive for the shooting has yet to be disclosed to the public.
