Morgan Hill, CA — On the morning of Sunday, December 22, 2024, two separate collisions in Morgan Hill resulted in three people losing their lives, according to NBC Bay Area.
The first accident happened around 3 AM at Third Street and Monterey Road. Initial investigations suggest that a driver lost control, causing their vehicle to hit trees and a fire hydrant in the center median before overturning. Police confirmed that the driver, the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hours later, at approximately 8:44 AM, a second fatal crash occurred on Monterey Road near Middle Avenue, close to Calderon Tires. Investigators say a northbound vehicle traveling at a high speed lost control and collided with a southbound vehicle. The impact was severe, and both drivers were declared dead at the scene.
Police have not yet released the identities of the victims pending notification of their families. The causes of both crashes remain under investigation, and authorities are working to determine whether speed or other factors contributed to the incidents.
Single-Vehicle Collisions and Comparative Negligence
In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility.
California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages. A personal injury attorney can play a critical role in sorting through these details to help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
