North Beach Fire Claims Elderly Man’s Life

SAN FRANCISCO—A one-alarm fire on April 2 in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood claimed the life of one person and seriously injured another.

The one-alarm fire claimed the life of an elderly North Beach resident.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters responded to a fire which started on the third-story of a four-story structure located on 1050 Columbus Avenue. Firefighters were able to control the blaze by 10:29 p.m.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the deadly fire. To date, arson has not been ruled-out as a possible factor. Arson investigators were called to the scene shortly after the blaze was put-out.

The deceased, an elderly man has not yet been identified. The identity of the other victim also remains unknown.
