SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that transpired on October 26. The SFPD reported at approximately 1:06 a.m., officers from Southern Station responded to the 1800 block of Market Street to investigate a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a possible stab wound. They rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene who took the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where the victim later died. The name of the victim and age has not been disclosed to the public.

During the course of the investigation, the SFPD Homicide Detail identified Paul Durden, 41, as the suspect responsible for the fatal stabbing. Homicide investigators sent out a crime bulletin to department members for the arrest of Durden.

At approximately 7 a.m. SFPD Bayview District officers located and detained Durden on Jerrold Avenue and Upton Street. Homicide investigators developed probable cause to arrest Durden who was taken to San Francisco County Jail and booked for homicide (187 PC).
