SAN FRANCISCO—On Sunday, May 3, officials from the San Francisco Police Department were involved in an early morning police chase in the Bayview neighborhood that spanned across the Bay Bridge to Oakland.

At around 1:50 a.m., police witnessed crossfire between a maroon SUV and unidentified blue vehicle in the vicinity of Evans Street and Napoleon Avenue.

According to SF Police Officer Grace Gatpandan, police began tailing the SUV as it raced across the Bay Bridge and off the Fruitvale and East Eighth Street exit in Oakland. En route, the SUV discarded the handgun onto the Bay Bridge, but was later recovered by the police.
The chase lasted until the SUV crashed into a utility pole just off of the exit in Oakland and halted near train tracks. The driver and two passengers fled by foot; while two of suspects got away, one was apprehended and taken to seek medical treatment for injuries sustained during the crash.
Police are still looking for the other two suspects riding in the SUV, as well as the suspects who were in the blue car. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
