Alexander Santiago-Gonzalez

SAN FRANCISCO—Inmate, Alexander Santiago-Gonzalez, escaped San Francisco County Jail on Monday, March 23 while he was taking garbage out. With no handcuffs on, he was escorted by sheriff’s deputy from the jail building to a dumpster.

As he approached unsecured area, he fled on Harriet Alley towards Harrison Street. Deputy sheriffs gave chase, but the inmate was not found. Currently the search is being expanded beyond San Francisco and there is a $5 million escape warrant.

Santiago-Gonzales is described as 26-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet and 6 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds. He was arrested in May 2014, where an arsenal of guns and large amount of black tar heroin were confiscated from his house. Santiago-Gonzales was held in jail on weapons and drugs charges.
