SAN FRANCISCO—Thousands gathered at the Justin Herman Plaza and Civic Center in San Francisco Saturday, January 26, in light of the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.

People for both ends of the abortion debate were protesting at the rally. At 11:00 a.m., nearly a thousand pro-choice advocates joined at the Justin Herman Plaza, located at the Embarcardero Plaza, including the West Coast Rally for Reproductive Justice, the National Organization for Women’s California Chapter, State Assemblymen Mark Leno, World ‘Can’t Wait and the Silver Ribbon Campaign.’

On the other side of the debate, the pro-lifers conglomerated at the Civic Center a few blocks north of the intersection of Market Street and Van Ness Avenue where the anti-abortion march “Walk for Life” commenced at around 1:30 p.m. Arch Bishop of San Francisco Carlo Mario Vigano and other church groups from Northern and Central California joined with the thousands of others rallying for the rights of the unborn.

January 22, 2013 marked the 40th anniversary of the famous Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade that took a major step in completely legalizing abortion, putting the decision in the hands of the states.
