Serial Groping Suspect Arrested

SAN FRANCISCO—A serial groper has been terrorizing San Francisco’s Nob Hill neighborhood since August 2014, sneaking-up on his unsuspecting victims and assaulting them before fleeing the scene.

On Monday, March 16, Victor Vazquez, of San Francisco, was arrested by the San Francisco Police Department in connection with the assaults. Vazquez faces seven charges, among which include sexual assault and false imprisonment.

Vazquez was allegedly involved in numerous attacks in Nob Hill, becoming more brazen and aggressive with each passing assault. In one incident, the prosecution claims Vazquez approached a female victim from behind, lifted her skirt and groped her genitals.

The increasingly aggressive behavior, a red flag for law enforcement officials, may have also led to Vazquez’s arrest, as one victim was able to assist in a drawn composite sketch of the suspect that was released in November 2014.

Law enforcement is currently working to determine if Vazquez was indeed the perpetrator of these attacks.

During his first court appearance on Monday, his bail was set at $400,000.
