SAN FRANCISCO—Police officers are not confirming the relationship between the victim and the person who instigated the pepper spray onto the man or whether the pepper spray was solely involved in the victim’s death, citing the pending of the investigation.
Police officers from the San Francisco Police Department responded to a 911 call at around 11:13 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, August 30, 2025, on the 800 block of Brannan Street in the South of Market at an apartment complex. There were two people involved, who were coworkers, in a physical altercation.
Police officers, who arrived at the scene, found a man not responding, and he received first aid from the police officers. When paramedics arrived, they declared him to be dead. The investigators with the Medical Examiner’s Office declared his death to be highly suspicious. The initial reports said his death involved pepper spray.
Other tenants of the apartment complex are in shock. The detectives close to this case are reviewing surveillance video footage, and they are also interviewing witnesses to get their testimonies. People close to case are waiting for the victim’s autopsy’s results to see what the circumstances on how the victim had died.
Currently, the case is being investigated as a murder. There have been no arrests made yet as of Sunday morning, August 31, 2025.
