SAN FRANCISCO—On Friday, June 6, the San Francisco Municipal Transporation Authority announced that speed cameras in the city of San Francisco are now live. The warning period started on June 6, and the SFMTA noted that citations will begin starting August 5.
The city issued 31,000 warnings during the month of April. The SFMTA noted on its website that speed safety cameras have shown as a tool to address excessive speeding and reduce severe and fatal injury traffic collisions.
With AB 645 being passed, the city can now utilize the technology to slow down speeding vehicles on our streets.
All radar equipment is calibrated and certificated by a 3rd party vendor at least once a year and undergo routine inspection every month. For the calibration specification sheets, visit our calibration document page.
