UNITED STATES—Over 50 people were killed, and more than 200 people were injured during a mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, October 1. Amongst those killed, were two off-duty police officers who have not yet been identified. The shooting transpired from a hotel room inside the Mandalay Bay hotel near the Las Vegas Strip.

The suspect has been identified as Stephen Paddock, 64, who shot multiple rounds of gunfire from a window inside his room looking down on the Route 91 Harvest Fest, a country music festival that transpired at 10:08 p.m. There were more than 20,000 people at the event when the shooting started.

Sheriff Joe Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spoke to the media indicating that officers located Paddock’s room and found him deceased. They were able to locate his room because the countless gunfire set off the smoke alarm inside his room on the 32nd floor. Police found over 8 weapons inside the suspect’s room, utilized 2 platforms and cameras during the shooting.

Lombardo spoke on Monday, October 2 during a press conference where he revealed that over 400 people were injured. “The only criminal background for [Paddock] was a citation from several years ago,” stated Lombardo.

Fox News spoke to Russell Bleck, a victim who was inside a tent at the time when the shooting transpired. Bleck captured video of the incident as it transpired, noting that the suspect shot rapidly with seven second intervals in between re-loading weapons to continue firing upon the patrons. The shooting is the deadliest in the United States history. Authorities have executed a search warrant at Paddock’s home in Mesquite, Nevada, where no previous criminal background was established. A motive for the shooting has yet to be disclosed to the public.

According to reports, police were searching for Marilou Danley who was considered a person of interest in the incident, but is no longer involved in the shooting. Danley was believed to be a companion with Paddock, who police suspected may have been involved in the incident.

Musicians at the incident included country star Jason Aldean, who took to Instagram noting: “Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still dont know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate.”

President Donald Trump tweeted, “My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you!”

Videos of the incident transpiring have been unleased on social media where the rapid gunfire can be heard and people hitting the ground for protection. People were seen running during brief intervals when the fire transpired. Video shows the gunfire initiating whenever people started to flee the region. Reports indicate that over 400 people were transported to local hospitals after the shooting that transpired on the Las Vegas strip.

Authorities revealed that Paddock had been staying inside his Mandalay Bay hotel room since September 28. Police do not suspect the incident to be a result of terrorism and that the shooter acted alone during the incident.
