SAN FRANCISCO—A victim of a physical altercation that took place in the Tenderloin District on September 2, who was hospitalized with life threatening injuries has died. The victim has been identified as James Montgomery, 66, of San Francisco.

Officers from the San Francisco Police Department were called to the scene of 700 O’Farrell Street regarding a physical assault that transpired at around 1:20 p.m.

Authorities arrested Sylvester Guard, 38, who punched Montgomery, causing significant injuries. According to reports, Montgomery is a street artist and he was taken into custody on charges of voluntary manslaughter, assault and elder abuse.
