SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office announced that a conviction was obtained against Tuvshintur Ganzorig, 37, after a trial by jury for driving under the influence in the Richmond District. He was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 21252(a)) and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or greater (VC 23152(b)).

According to testimony and other evidence presented at trial, on December 23, 2024, the San Francisco Fire Department and personnel with the SF Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 dispatch at Spruce Street and Geary Boulevard at approximately 2:14 a.m.

SFFD Fire Rescue personnel spotted a Mercedes GLS450 traveling westbound on Geary Boulevard with an unresponsive driver. The SFFD intervened to stop the vehicle and render emergency aid to the driver, Tuvshintur Ganzorig. He did not have any medical complaints and instead was simply incapacitated due to excessive alcohol consumption.

Officers spoke to the defendant who admitted that he drank alcoholic beverages before getting behind the wheel. During standardized field sobriety tests, he performed poorly and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Richmond Station and completed a blood draw chemical test. The blood test, taken at 4:14 a.m. revealed a BAC of 0.248, over three times the legal limit.

“Driving under the influence of alcohol is a selfish and needless crime that reflects a complete disregard for the safety of others and the well-being of our community,” said Assistant District Attorney Sarah Quiñones. “The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office is committed to prosecuting DUI offenses to hold offenders accountable and protect the public from preventable harm.”

Ganzorig is currently out of custody and his sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025.
