SAN FRANCISCO—Mann Packing Company, a subsidiary of Fresh Del Monte Produce in Salinas, California has voluntarily participated in the produce recall on Sunday, November 3. The recall is due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes outbreak.
The FDA and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency were the first to warn Mann Packing Company of possible Listeria outbreak and prompted the recall. The company has posted several SKU numbers and product names that could be potentially harmful if consumed.
Persons affected by Listeria are known to have symptoms that mimic that of a cold or flu, but symptoms may not occur right away.
The company has released the “Best If Used By” date to give consumers a way to track all potentially tainted products. The dates range from October 11, 2019 to November 16, 2019.
The Mann Company is responsible for packing various produce items under several different labels such as: Signature Select, O Organics, HEB Organics, and their own Mann packing products.
These items could have been sold at grocery stores such as Safeway, Kroger, and Trader Joe’s.
While the company has pulled most of the affected products, customers are encouraged to check the Mann Co. website in order to ensure its safety.
