HOUSTON, TX—Behind Kevin Durant’s 37 points, the Golden State Warriors cruised to an easy 119-106 victory against the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday, May 14.

Although the Rockets had the best regular season record in the NBA, it felt hollow watching Houston’s lazy, disappointing effort. The Warriors trailed early, however, Durant torched the Rockets with a dazzling array of jumpers. He went 14 of 27 from the field, proving DUB Nation is up for the challenge to repeat as NBA Champions.

While LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are up against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals-lets be real; this is the true NBA Championship on the line!

On a night where Steph Curry and Klay Thompson struggled to find the basket, the Rockets offense was in shambles.

The blitzering pace was derailed, as the Rockets failed to run their exciting, balanced offense. Relying one isolation after another instead of getting the ball inside, Houston resorted to “Park” ball.

The eventual MVP, James Harden was terrific adding 41 points to lead all scorers. Chris Paul also poured in 25 points. Role players such as Eric Gordon, Clint Capela and Trevor Ariza were MIA.

The Warriors dictated the tempo; running away with the contest in the third quarter. Every NBA purist was hoping for a classic playoff series in what has been a drab NBA Playoffs thus far in general.

Rockets Head Coach Mike D’antoni will have to go back to the drawing board prior to Game 2. The world maybe tired of the Warriors dynasty, yet Golden State isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
