HOLLYWOOD—It’s the mystery that “Pretty Little Liars” fans have been eagerly wanting the answer to since the season 2 finale, who is the mystery person in the ‘red coat’ who visited Mona in Radley Sanitarium?  The audience is well aware that this mystery figure is the leader of the “A” team or so we think.  It’s the mystery that has captivated “PLL” fans nationwide.  We all want to place a face to this mystery figure, but even more importantly we hope the revelation lives up to all the hype.  We’ve put together some of the most decisive clues from the past two seasons to guess just who this elusive figure may be.

The first person on our suspect list is Jenna Marshall (Tammin Sursok).  She was the unfortunate casualty in a prank gone wrong by our liars Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Aria (Lucy Hale) and queen bee Alison (Sasha Pieterse).  She was blind for many years and would have every single motive and reason to want to punish the girls.  Even though she recently regained her memory, she suffered so long adjusting to being blind.

There are a few problems with Jenna being the mysterious woman wearing the red coat. For starters, she’s not blonde, but that doesn’t mean she couldn’t wear a wig. Last time audiences saw Jenna was in the season three summer finale which saw the teen getting as far away from Rosewood as possible.  Unless she snooped around town in the previous without someone knowing seems impossible. However, I do believe Jenna knows who the person in the red coat is if it’s not her.

Audiences may recall in the season 2 final “UnmAsked” Jenna met with a mysterious someone at the park and gave them something.  Who that person is will finally be revealed on episode 24.  My speculation suggests it has to be someone the liars know as the mystery figure went to the Masquerade Ball. I believe it’s a male, perhaps Ezra (Ian Harding), Jason (Drew Van Acker), Noel (Brant Daugherty) or Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson).  Some may recall during the first Halloween episode Jenna and Detective Wilden were cozy at Noel Kahn’s party.

The obvious suspect on the list would be CeCe Drake (Vanessa Ray).  For starters she’s blonde; she has curly hair and fits the description fairly well given by Emily.  Also CeCe is quite suspect.  She appears to have taught Alison everything she needs to know when it comes to deception, in addition to knowing quite a bit about our liars and their secrets.  She was also caught lying to Aria about her car and she knows Detective Wilden and was caught conspiring with Spencer’s sister, Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) the night Alison went missing.  The issue with CeCe being the culprit is what would be her motive.  It’s a polarizing question, but perhaps CeCe is connected to a member of the Rosewood community that we don’t know about.  Everyone in Rosewood seems to have secrets including the adults.

Someone who just continues to surprise me is Melissa Hastings.  Of course, she’s not a natural blonde, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t wear a wig to fool everyone.  For starters, she did fake her pregnancy; she dressed as the black swan at the masquerade ball and even donned a Bonnie and Clyde costume at Noel Kahn’s Halloween party.  While Spencer is her sister, Melissa has suffered heartache on two occasions because of Spencer cheating on her boyfriends, first with Ian (Ryan Merriman) and then with Wren.  This could be her way of exacting a little bit of vengeance.  Then again Melissa may have an ulterior motive the audience has no clue about.  If she is indeed “red coat” it will rock Spencer’s world!

The last possible suspect on the list is Alison DiLaurentis.  Yep, she’s dead, but is she really?  She was the queen of telling lies and blackmailing people including her BFF’s and their parents.  And if that wasn’t Ali’s body that was buried whose body was it. Audiences should be weary to the fact that we have never seen Ali’s dead body; it’s always been kept secret from the audience.  Any theories on why that is?

For those who are fans of the books many are well aware of the twin theory, that Ali has a sister named Courtney.  Just how this would fit into the TV series is another question.  For starters, if Alison does indeed have a twin, how come no one knows about her?  I can see the liars being thrown off, but what about her brother Jason?  He has to know about it unless his mother got rid of one of the twins during birth.  Logically speaking that is the only way to cover up the charade that would be plausible for the audience.

There have been countless clues in the series to the possibility that Alison is alive.  For starters, who was the mysterious blonde that Spencer noticed in the window in the pilot episode?  What about those vivid scenes where each liar received a visit from the dearly departed providing them clues about “A’s” identity, even referring to the culprit as a b***th?  Furthermore, both Halloween episodes featured creepy appearances by a little girl hinting at her evil sister, coincidence?

The only problem with Ali being the blonde in the “red coat” is what would be her motive for wanting to torture her friends so much.  It’s not like she has anything to gain from doing so.  Its just makes her plain evil, also it’s the obvious choice for the writers on the show.  That’s what audiences love about “PLL” is the mystery.  If we know the big reveal before the reveal we feel cheated.  Now if the writers really wanted to throw the audience for the loop, how about having this so called blonde in the “red coat” turn out to be a guy.

That would definitely knock the audience out of their seats.  An even bigger surprise would be if the mysterious figure turned out to be one of the liars parents!  I don’t think anyone would see that coming a mile away.  With so much to speculate, all the audience can do is speculate, but don’t worry we’re just mere days away from the big revelation.  So share your guesses with us by visiting the Canyon News Facebook page.  Who do you think is the mysterious person in the red coat?  Is it Ali, CeCe, Melissa, Jenna, heck it could be Hanna!  Don’t miss the big revelation on Tuesday, March 19 during the “Pretty Little Liars” season finale!
