SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office announced a conviction against William Haskins, 33, after a trial by jury for violating the terms of a criminal protective order and resisting and attacking arresting officers.
He was convicted of exhibiting a deadly weapon (PC 417(a)(1)), battery (PC 242), two counts of violating a court order (PC 166(c)(1)), resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer (PC 148(a)(1)) and battery on an officer (PC 243(b)).
According to the testimony and evidence presented at trial, the Superior Court of San Francisco issued a criminal protective order on October 4, 2022, ordering Haskins to stay 150 yards away from the protected party and her home. On August 19, 2023, police were called to a report of an assault.
Upon arrival the protected party reported that Haskins kicked her door down and assaulted her. When the police approached Haskins, he immediately began resisting, including biting and spitting on an officer. A records check showed that the protected party had the above criminal protective order in place protecting her from Haskins. As a result of this conduct the Superior Court of San Francisco issued a criminal protective order in case 23013103 on August 22, 2023.
On May 20, 2024, authorities were called to a report of an assault. Upon arrival they met with the protected party who stated that Haskins brandished a pair of scissors at her. A records check showed that the protected party had a current criminal protective order in place protecting her from Haskins.
“It is always dangerous for officers to respond to domestic violence calls, and this verdict holds Mr. Haskins accountable for his batteries on the protected party as well as the officers who responded to protect her,” said Assistant District Attorney Patrick McKuin.
Haskins is currently out of custody, with his sentencing scheduled for June 9, 2025. Anyone who has a loved one that needs support, please seek help. In an emergency call 9-1-1.
