HOLLYWOOD—Well, “The Jungle Book” proved that it is a force to be reckoned with this weekend at the box-office. The live-action flick of the Disney classic held onto its top spot at theaters earning over $60.8 million to keep off newcomers “The Huntsman: Winter’s War.” After about 2 weeks in theaters, the flick is just mere millions from crossing the $200 million mark at the domestic box-office.

Speaking of “The Huntsman,” the prequel/sequel did not impress audiences. The movie which cost a little over $150 million to make did not impress moviegoers. The movie starring Chris Hemsworth, Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron and Jessica Chastain looks like a major bust and the first flop of the summer 2016 box-office. If the flick drops more than 50 percent in its second week in theaters it will indeed be a telling sign.

Landing in third place was the comedy “Barbershop: The Next Cut” which earned $10.8 million in its second week. The flick has earned over $36 million at the box-office since being unleashed into theaters. Nabbing fourth place was the animated flick “Zootopia” that added another $6.6 million to its tally. Yes, that flick was indeed a box-office hit with a total of $316 million after 2 months in theaters.

Rounding out the top five was the comedy “The Boss” starring Melissa McCarthy with $6.1 million. The flick is certain to cross the $50 million mark in the next day or so. This week sees the release of the ensemble dramedy “Mother’s Day” starring Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson. I have a feeling “The Jungle Book” will hold onto its grip at the box-office until “Captain America” arrives on May 6.
