SAN FRANCISCO—A woman was shot and killed inside of a home on Thursday, October 24 at approximately 2 p.m. on the corner of 26th Avenue and Eucalyptus Street in the Merced Manor neighborhood. The shooting transpired near Lowell High School.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Valeria Villagomez. She was rushed to the hospital once officials arrived on the scene, where she was later pronounced deceased. 

The San Francisco Police Department arrested Jose Rodriguez, 20, in connection to Villagomez’s murder. The school was placed on a temporary lockdown as authorities completed their investigation and as a safety precaution.

The San Francisco News contacted the SFPD for additional details on the case and was informed that the suspect was booked at San Francisco County Jail on counts of homicide, intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily harm, corporal injury on a spouse and vandalism.  The SFPD indicated “There are no other updates on the case to provide at this time.”

A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed to the public. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the SFPD.
