SAN FRANCISCO—Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s San Francisco premier New Mission theater will be renamed the Christopher Nolan Theater as announced on Wednesday, June 10.
In mid-January, a super-centennial renovation was underway that included Barco 4K Laser projectors along with Theater One’s HDR Technology, theater-wide overhaul of seating and concessions.
The change is in effect for the anticipation of Nolan’s upcoming film, “The Odyssey” that arrives in theaters on July 17. There will be a permanent and noticeable dedication to Nolan at the theater lobby. The establishment keep New Mission Theater outdoor neon sign. It will also preserve its 1932 Timothy Plueger architecture.
The theater will host 70 millimeters, 35 millimeters and Premium Large Format (PLF) Big Show release of “The Odyssey.” Later this year, there will be a commemoration event held with Christopher Nolan in attendance, where he will guest-curate a showing of a 70 millimeter screening event.
