HOLLYWOOD—I’ve been waiting for this finale all season long. Yes, “From” fans, the season 4 finale has come upon us. Let it be known, things have forever changed in ‘Fromville’ as I like to call it. SPOILER ALERT: If you have not watched the episode, please stop reading RIGHT NOW!

This week’s episode, ‘If a Tree Falls in the Forest’ picked up precisely where that climatic episode from last week, with Jade and Tabitha locating the bones of the children and gathering them up but realized the talisman doesn’t actually work in the caves. Boyd and the others were able to pull up the bottle tree, but little did they realize that the tree removal would alter the day and night patterns. WHAT!? Yes, the place went completely dark.

So Boyd lied about the bones protecting them and was ready to sacrifice himself to ensure Tabitha put an end to it all. I’m still baffled how these people hadn’t realized that the rope was not secure; someone should have inspected it. The creatures still cannot come into the light, but that sudden darkness took me for a loop. The creatures cornered Jade and Tabitha, but a earthquake suddenly emerged rocking the town.

Victor warned Kenny that pulling down the Bottle Tree would lead to devastating consequences. Boyd was adamant about going down into the tunnels, but Kristi and Ellis warned otherwise as the creatures started to surround them in the woods. The group split into 2 vehicles. I swear I wanted to throw Patty to one of those creatures because her idiocy put so many lives at risk. Screaming, freezing, just acting helpless for no damn reason; she is becoming another Dale.

Jade and Tabitha found themselves cornered at a dead end, but another quake triggered sealing that entrance so the creatures couldn’t enter. Boyd, Acosta, Sara were livid with Patty causing all sorts of theatrics. Back at the clinic, Fatima and Marielle found themselves in serious danger as Smiley approached the clinic. They should be safe with the talisman, but it fell during the earthquake. Marielle managed to grab it, but not before Smiley gained access.

Marielle was fatally slashed trying to defend the two, and Fatima reacted like one of the creatures before leaving. Yes, that theory that Fatima is a becoming a monster is so true, as Kristie, Ellis, Randall and the others spotted Smiley on their way to clinic and panic ensued.

Yes, it was a heartbreaking moment for Kristie to have Marielle die in her arms. Back at the diner, Sophia continued to threaten Elgin with Clara’s annoying ass sitting there doing nothing. The Man in Yellow revealed that the darkness that dawned meant the end is near. I noticed something interesting, when Sophia killed Elgin who refused her bargain it led to the light coming back to town. All I need more than anything is to see Clara die in season 5.

Sophia started to collect all the talisman in town, but I realized something of major importance, she forgot one, there is one still in the caves that Tabitha and Jade took. Henry stumbled upon several bullets Victor had been carrying in his coloring can. Henry learned about that gun that Victor used to have, and it looks like Henry is either going to take his life, Victor’s or both of theirs to ‘end it.’ It will not work though, the MIY have deceived him to think it’s all one big dream.

Boyd learned about Marielle, just as Kristie continued to harbor the body. Out of nowhere, lightning and thunder rocked the skies as it emerged from the caves. Whatever is going on I have no clue, as it left everyone confused. Back at Colony House, Ethan and Julie lost it when they realized Tabitha was not with the others. Henry retrieved that firearm from the police station, just as Kenny stumbled upon him unaware of what just unfolded.

Ethan an emotional mess started to freak out, and things started to move in the kitchen. Guess what, I think that is Ethan doing that. When he gets overly emotional, he can move things; he’s telekinetic. Julie managed to calm her brother down reassuring him that they will take care of one another. Boyd was frazzled with everything that has unfolded, as Kenny, Sara and Acosta wanted to go back down in the caves. Jade and Tabitha managed to reach out to them through the transmission that Sara took during the melee to alert them they’re still alive.

Randall and Kristie took Marielle’s body to properly bury it in town, just as Boyd alerted Fatima and Ellis, he was going back into the caves to locate Jade and Tabitha. Fatima spilled that she could sense the creatures when they are close. This feels like Fatima’s tale coming full circle.

Henry loaded 2 bullets into the gun, just as Victor tried to chat with him. Oh, it’s obvious he plans to kill Victor and then to take his own life. Victor flipped out and tried to convince Henry what he had been told was one big dream, and what he thinks is true is not. Ethan’s sudden arrival thwarted that plan.

As Jade and Tabitha tried to dig themselves out of the trapped tunnel, Tabitha realized one of the skulls that she held was that of her and Jade’s daughter. Fatima alerted Boyd and Ellis that the creatures are close to locating Tabitha and Jade, as they discovered them. Boyd had to utilize his gun to break the pieces of wood. Cornered, Fatima alerted the others she could but them time as she transformed into one of the creatures, with Ellis trying to rescue her. Boyd was forced to drag his son out to safety.

The final moments are perhaps the most important as we finally witnessed The Man in Yellow interact with the Boy in White. Sophia dropped all the talisman, at least what she thinks are them all into the Faraway Tree. As I noted, there is another talisman still in the caves where Jade and Tabitha located the bones of the children. The tree being gone is important, but the retrieval of the bones are too.

Questions/Theories: I think the MIY and the BIW are related. Just how, I don’t know, but it appears to be a game they are playing. Ethan has abilities connected to things, and I am certain Julie’s story-walking is more important than we think.

How will the town react to all the talismans being gone, and Clara is going to have to explain what happened to Elgin and people are going to start to suspect things are not adding up. Gosh, the fact that we have to wait a year before getting answers on things as “From” finally comes to an epic end.
