BURLINGAME—On Friday, August 8, 2025, a chain reaction vehicle accident occurred in downtown Burlingame at approximately 6:25 p.m. on the 1200 block of Donnelly Avenue in front of Truffle Poke Bar Restaurant.
It started when an 11-year-old male driver of a Class 2 model from 101 Bike with a maximum speed level of 20 mph with a ten-year-old female passenger collided with another car, which was a white SVU; others reported it as a sedan, and one said it was a Mazda SVU. Whatever the case, the San Mateo 19-year-old driver then ran over the sidewalk, where she hit two young children, a four-year-old boy, who was later identified as Ayden Everest Fang, was killed on the spot while the six-year-old girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was treated and taken to Stanford Medical Center.
The sedan was exiting Municipal Parking Lot D and entering the roadway of Donnelly Avenue when it was hit on the passenger side by the sibling-driven e-bike, going eastbound; it had the right-of-way and was following all state and local laws. This caused the car to jump to the north sidewalk, hitting the two children and crashing headlong into the restaurant.
The driver of the sedan, who remained at the scene of the accident, seemed to be cooperating with the police officers. The Burlingame Police Department’s Traffic and North San Mateo Police Department’s Major Accident Division Investigation Team are continuing to investigate the crash. No arrests have been made yet. No drugs and alcohol are related to this accident.
Following the accident, plenty of bystanders jumped into help. A memorial is now being set up for young Fang in front of Truffle Poke Bar Restaurant. Young Fang is the third pedestrian to die in the past year in the city of Burlingame.
