SAN FRANCISCO—On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, police officers of the San Francisco Police Department responded to a call of a stabbing at around 4:38 p.m. in the afternoon near Junipero Serra Boulevard and Ocean Avenue.
The victim was a 35-year-old father, Robert Paul Byrd II, who had just picked up his eight-year-old son from Commodore Sloat Elementary School. He died of his injuries after being taken to the hospital. His father, Robert Byrd, Senior described his son as a “fun-loving dude,” and he was a good father. He worked part-time at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
The attack on Byrd happened as he was crossing the street while holding his son’s hand after he was picking him up from school. Police officers of the San Francisco Police Department said it was a random act of violence after an argument broke out. The suspect is 42-year-old Daniel Patrick Rodriguez, Junior, who was apprehended after a 48-hour manhunt by the San Francisco Police Department on Friday, September 12, 2025, shortly before 9 a.m. in the morning. He was found, apprehending him in Tuolumne County, which is more than160 miles east of San Francisco.
Using surveillance cameras, automated license plate readers and witness information, San Francisco Police Department were able to locate Rodriguez’s location. They were able to locate him with many different police units.
