SAN FRANCISCO—On Thursday, September 11, 2025, which marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11, fire stations across the country, including the fire stations of San Francisco Fire Department, honored the fallen firefighters who gave their lives to save ordinary folks in the terrorist attacks Tuesday, September 11, 2001, with a remembrance ceremony.
The public could join to observe and honor the people who had perished in the attacks that occurred at the World Trade Center, Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia and the crash site of Shanksville, Pennsylvania by going on their Facebook page: https://fb.me/e/2M0kVlbOi
Here was the schedule for the 9/11 remembrance ceremony at fire stations across San Francisco:
6:45 PST: Apparatus rolled out of bay, floating the driveways of both sides.
6:58 PST: Fire department personnel assembled at attention in front of individual station flagpole location (or at a central area in front of station).
6:59 PST: Time South Tower Collapse – The apparatus bell rang 3-3-3 (3 sets of 3 chimes each, signifying “The Last Alarm.”
7:00 PST: Lower Station flag to half-staff, observing one minute of silence.
7:02 PST: Recognition Service – read the names aloud of each of the 343 firefighters and 8 Emergency Medical Service providers (EMS) from Fire Department of New York (FDNY).
For the rest of the day, flags remained at half-staff.
If members of the press and public wish to view or film the ceremony, they may do this at the Public Safety Building at 1245 3rd Street in San Francisco. It started at 6:40 in the morning with local and state legislators there.
