SAN FRANCISCO—A 50-year-old cable car operator was struck by a motorcyclist while exiting the cable car on Thursday, June 11  at around 10:30 p.m. The cable car operator sustained serious brain injuries and a fractured skull.

He was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The motorcyclist has been identified as William Makepeace, 22, who is suspected to have been under the influence while he was driving during the collision.  The motorcyclist did not flee the scene after the collision. He remained at the scene where police conducted their investigation and he was arrested.
