SAN FRANCISCO—A charred corpse was found inside a camper van that caught fire in San Francisco’s Bayview District on March 26.
Law enforcement discovered the camper ablaze at 6:46 a.m. near the crossing of Van Dyke Avenue and Ingalls Street. Once the fire department arrived on scene and extinguished the flames, the charred body of 38-year-old San Francisco resident Konata Perkins was found inside the wreckage of the van.
The medical examiner’s office is working to determine whether Perkins was killed by way of accident, homicide, or suicide. Arson has not been ruled out as a possibility, as police and fire crews continue work to determine the circumstances behind the fatal fire.
