HOLLYWOOD—November sweeps are in full-force right now on your favorite soaps. This is that time of year, when all those stories that have been taking months to wrap reach an epic climax and “Days of our Lives” is delivering in massive ways.
Kristen DiMeria (Eileen Davidson) has been scheming for months ever since she flew her way back into Salem and destroyed the marriage between Marlena (Deidre Hall) and John (Drake Hogestyn). The femme fatale was quite successful in pulling off that deed, but she wanted to take things further by destroying John’s son, Brady (Eric Martsolf) as well.
After her first wedding to Brady fell apart, Kristen was out for major revenge; she decided to drug and have sex with Marlena’s son Eric (Greg Vaughn), who happens to be a priest! Yes, it’s shocking to say the least. For weeks Eric has been suffering from vivid dreams trying to piece what happened to him at the hotel in D.C. Just when he finally thought he figured it all out, wham a curveball is thrown his way.
Some may be asking well why is this event so important, well many citizens of Salem were not happy with the reunion of Eric and Kristen and made their feelings pretty clear; two of those frontrunners were Victor (John Aniston) and Marlena. So when rumors surfaced of Kristen having an affair while with Brady, both Marlena and Victor wanted to get the goods on the vixen. Victor was right as always, but used Marlena to do his dirty work, without telling her that her son was on the video.
At the ceremony, guests got an eyeful of the dirty deed that left Eric lost, Brady dumbfounded, Kristen and emotional wreck and the citizens of Salem in horror. Wait, we haven’t even gotten to the good part. Sami (Alison Sweeney) discovered once again that her lover EJ (James Scott) lied to her once again, Brady unleashed a fury of anger on his fiancé and Kristen chose to pull a gun on Marlena! So what will happen?
I think inquiring minds are well aware a murder is on the horizon and nothing screams drama like a murder mystery, where the culprit never turns out to be who the audience suspects. “Days” is very good at doing this, anyone remember the ‘Salem Stalker’ storyline. That was some of the best writing and surprises on daytime TV ever, not to mention the fact that Marlena was the culprit.
Brady is sure to fall off the rails again; last time he slept with Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and turned to the bottle for solace. This time I’m certain his emotions will get the best of him and people will be hurt, Marlena, Nicole, Eric and Sami to name a few. While the audience may expect some surprises from these characters, nothing can prepare for the wrath of Stefano DiMeria (Joseph Mascalo). Stefano is the ultimate daytime villain and will be sure to unleash hell when it comes to protecting his children; just look at the chaos he put Sami and EJ through in order to get his wishes fulfilled. November sweeps are just beginning and there are plenty of surprises left. “Days of our Lives” airs weekdays at 1 p.m. on NBC.
