SAN FRANCISCO—On Thursday, August 8, 2025, the SF District Attorney’s Office announced that Deaon Brimmer, 44, was convicted after a trial by jury for attempting to break into a Cow Hollow home. He was convicted of one count of attempted burglary in the first-degree (PC 664/459) and possession of burglary tools (PC 466). The court also found true the allegation that these crimes were committed while the defendant was out of custody on his own recognizance (PC 120022.1(b)).
According to evidence and other testimony presented at trial, on December 7, 2024, under the cover of darkness, Brimmer climbed a fence and attempted to drill through a door lock at a home on Union Street in an attempt to gain access to the residence.
He approached the home shortly after the resident had left. The resident observed Brimmer on surveillance cameras and called 9-1-1. Authorities arrived on scene while Brimmer was still drilling through the lock. His break-in attempt was highly sophisticated and planned. Prior to the attempt, he filed false deeds and documents with the City and County of San Francisco and the California Secretary of State in order to make it seem like he owned the home.
“I want to thank the jury for their careful consideration of the facts and law in this case,” said Assistant District Attorney Yuri Chornobil. “While all home invasions are terrifying, the level of sophistication and planning performed by Mr. Brimmer in preparation of this incident was particularly troubling. The residents of San Francisco can sleep easier knowing he will be held accountable for his actions.”
The defendant is currently in custody, with sentencing scheduled for August 29, 2025.
