Dismembered Body Parts Found Outside Goodwill

SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco police are searching for a person of interest captured on surveillance cameras dumping dismembered human body parts outside of a Goodwill store in the city’s South of Market neighborhood.

The discovery was made Wednesday afternoon. Police returned to the scene of the dumping Thursday to scope for evidence. As of now, it is unknown whether the case involves a single victim or if there was even a murder that proceeded the grisly dismemberment.

Dismembered
The suitcase full of chopped-up body parts was found outside a Goodwill store.

Authorities are currently working to discover how and when the dismembered person was killed.

The remains were found inside and outside of a suitcase left on Mission and Market Streets, including a dismembered leg and torso absent a matching head, lower arms, and hands.

After the discovery of the suitcase, SFPD officers closed 11th Street to allow officers unrestricted access to investigate the area. Police are working to draw up a detailed description of the suspect.

If the dismembered victim was killed in San Francisco, the murder would mark the city’s tenth in 2015 following just 45 homicides in all of 2014.

Anyone with knowledge of the incident is urged to contact the San Francisco Police Department at (415) 575-4444, or text TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
