HOLLYWOOD—Well, get ready people because awards season will start to kick-off into full gear in the coming months, but on Thursday, July 14, the nominees for the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards, but it was “Games of Thrones” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson” leading all nominees.

The big talk of the town was the many names that missed the cut. No love for previous winner Uzo Aduba from “Orange is the New Black.” The Academy still not giving love to “Empire” beyond Taraji P. Henson in the Best Actress race, not to mention the omission of Julianna Margulies for her riveting work on the final season of “The Good Wife.”

The buzzy Showtime drama “Billions” starring Paul Giamatti and Damien Lewis failed to get into the minds of voters, as did “Orange is the New Black” in the Best Drama category.
