LOS ANGELES—Former Cleveland Cavaliers star J.R. Smith was seen in a video released by TMZ beating up a man who vandalized the former NBA Champion’s car during a protest in Los Angeles on Saturday, May, 30.

He stated in a video he posted online that he parked his vehicle in a residential area away from stores where the looting happened in the Fairfax neighborhood of Los Angeles. Smith attended the protest that started earlier in the afternoon at the area.

“One of these little m*therf***ing white boys didn’t know where he was going and broke my f***ing window and my truck,” Smith said. “I chased him down and whooped his ass.”

The 6’6” 225-pound guard in the video is seen taking the protestor to the ground and kicking him a few times before he is able to get up and escape. Smith happens to get one final right-hook however just before the protester escapes.

“He didn’t know whose window he broke and he got his ass whooped,” Smith said. “This ain’t no hate crime. I ain’t got no problem with nobody, ain’t nobody ain’t got no problem with me. It’s a problem with the m*therf***ing system. That’s it.”

Smith last stepped foot on the court in November 2018 where he only appeared in 11 games that season. Cleveland decided to sit Smith out as they sorted through options in regards to the future of his career with the team. He was eventually released by the Cavaliers on July 15, 2019, and has yet to find a spot on an NBA roster.

Smith started for the Cavalier’s during their championship run when they overcame a 3-1 game deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 Finals.
