SAN FRANCISCO—A car accident was reported to the San Francisco Fire Department at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, that left five people in critical condition.

“Avoid the area of Bush & Gough! A multi car collision occurred at approx 530AM with 5 persons transported. Use alternate routes as #SFPD investigates,” the SFPD tweeted.

According to ABC 7 NEws, accident involved three cars; two mid-size sedan and a SUV. The Honda was traveling eastbound on Bush when it made contact with a Toyota SUV that was traveling south on Gough. The third car involved in the collision, a Ford sedan, was clipped a short time after the initial crash.

The SFFD tweeted: “4 critical patients have been@taken to the trauma center, gathering more on additional patients. AVOID AREA OF GOUGH AND BUSH @SFPD WILL BE INVESTIGATING, MEDIA REQUESTS WILL BE FORWARDED TO THAT AGENCY.”

Four of the victims were taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries sustained during the collision. The Jaws of Life were used to remove passengers from the vehicles. Officials are still investigating the exact cause of the collision. The names of the victims have not yet been disclose to the public.
