HOLLYWOOD—I will admit “General Hospital” may have been the best soap of 2013, with its intriguing and must-see storylines, the last two weeks not so much with the holidays, but it looks like 2014, will bring some much need drama to the residents of Port Charles.

First and foremost, Patrick (Jason Thompson) made his choice. Patrick was placed in a sticky situation having to choose from his back from the dead wife, Robin (Kimberly McCullough) or his almost bride, Sabrina (Teresa Castillo). Inquiring minds knew that Patrick would choose Robin; I mean come on they’re destined to be together. Unfortunately, it leaves Sabrina with a broken heart, but I fear that may not be the end of things for the jilted bride.  Just when Patrick came up with the unique idea of asking Robin to have another child with him, Sabrina is preggers with Patrick’s baby!  This does not bode good news for the newly reunited couple and could cause Patrick to have another mental breakdown.  Speaking of Sabrina, she has been getting cozy with her ex Carlos, who also happens to work for mob lord Julian Jerome (William DeVry).  In a desperate plea for his life, he revealed he was related to Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) ex-wife, Lily Rivera, which could set-up an interesting storyline, just in time for February sweeps. Instead of releasing any spoilers, I’ll leave you to guess as to what surprises may transpire.

Speaking of Julian, his quest to take down Sonny Corinthos is placing many lives at risk, including his daughter Sam (Kelly Monaco) and his grandson. What Julian, has yet to connect is he has a son, Lucas, who is heading back to PC; wonder if the reunion will be happily ever after. Sam has her own troubles though, just as her relationship with Silas (Michael Easton) continues to bloom, some dark secrets from Silas’ past are about to surface. This is what intrigues me the most, Ava (Maura West) is well aware of her former flames past and has made threats; Silas received a mysterious phone call that but all unveiled, whatever his secrets are, they are quite explosive to say the least.

On other fronts, Heather Webber (Robin Mattson) escaped being stabbed and buried alive by her own son Franco (Roger Howarth). We all know Heather is a loose cannon and she’d do anything for her children, but this could cause the psycho, to knock off a few PC residents in my opinion. Let’s just say I expect a murder or two come February sweeps.

Perhaps the storyline, sure to fire up audiences most is the reunion of Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Emme Rylan) in their quest to have another child. There is just one slight problem, the embryos that they had frozen, were stolen by Dr. Obrecht.  Guess what that means? Britt’s (Kelly Thiabut) son, Ben, is actually Dante and Lulu’s offspring. If there is one thing the audience knows about Britt its that she is conniving and willing to do anything to protect her son, so expect plenty of hearts to be broken in the coming months and a few secrets to be unveiled that will shake the residents of Port Charles once again.

Look at things this way soap fans, February sweeps are just a mere four weeks away, so expect plenty of build-ups leading to some of the sharpest, jaw-dropping moments that are seen on daytime drama. “General Hospital” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on ABC.
