OAKLAND—In a recent news report, the Oakland Athletics announced their series of home stands which will take place over the next week, including those which comprise their PLAY BALL Weekend on June 3 and June 4.
On Friday, June 2, the A’s commenced a six-game home stand with the Washington Nationals and Toronto Blue Jays. Scheduled events are a pair of giveaways, the team’s third annual Pride Night, and PLAY BALL Weekend festivities.
On Saturday, June 3, a number of Khris Davis bobble heads will be distributed to 15,000 fans, showcased by XFINITY. Another component of the team’s PLAY BALL Weekend, scheduled for June 4, will include the opportunity for 15,000 fans to receive an exclusive bat and ball set. Chevrolet will showcase the distribution.
The goal of the PLAY BALL initiative, a joint effort between the MLB and USA baseball is to engage youthful baseball fans and honor the continuous support of youth involvement in baseball and softball. In addition to the giveaways, the A’s will partner with the Oakland Cal Ripken Baseball League to host a baseball game on Saturday at Greenman Field, along with an equipment drive in collaboration with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund.
In a separate news release, the A’s announced that infielder Adam Rosales and former pitcher Vida Blue will host a sandlot baseball game from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Greenman Field. The event is also supported by Sandlot Nation, Rosales’ non-profit organization.
