SAN FRANCISCO—A house fire, reported at 6:38 a.m. on Christmas Day in the city’s Portrero Hill neighborhood resulted in damages estimated at $1.3 million.

No civilians were killed during the fire, but two homes were significantly damaged and two cats were killed. It took firefighters almost four hours to extinguish the flames, which were doused at 10:39 a.m. The homes, located at 243 and 241 Mississippi Street, suffered $1.15 million in structural damage and $210,000 in property damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
