HOLLYWOOD―The truth began to unravel in episode 22 “Cover For Me” which gave the audience a glimpse into the secrets that Spencer (Troian Bellisario) has been keeping from the other liars. I’ve always suspected that Spencer knew more about the night Alison (Sasha Pieterse) went missing than she explained. She wasn’t happy having to be sent to rehab thanks to her parents, and was a bit snappy with Mrs. Hastings (Lesley Fera).
Spence begin to recall moments about the night Alison disappeared; first hearing voices, then seeing flaunting images. Aria (Lucy Hale) partied things up at a frat house to take her mind of Mr. Fitz (Ian Harding). Spencer was a bit surprised to learn that she was on house arrest, just as Emily (Shay Mitchell) got an update on Aria with her latest situation. Hanna (Ashley Benson) was not pleased to discover that Mr. Fitz was back at school, and spotted a tense moment with Mona (Janel Parrish) and Mike (Cody Cristiansen). Emily decided to confront Ezra about his devious intentions and forced him to deal with a bit of guilt. Oh Hanna, why haven’t you learned that attempting to date older gentlemen is a big no-no in real life? Doesn’t appear to be the case, as she ran into Officer Holbrook (Sean Faris) who asked her about Alison DiLaurentis being alive! It appears Paige’s (Lindsey Shaw) note is stirring up some trouble. It appears Aria is doing everything possible to keep her mind off Ezra, including sleeping with her new boy toy.
Spencer received a threat from “A” who decided to place a pile of dirt under her bed cover. “I know you dug her grave. Now I’m digging yours,” wrote ‘A.’ Hanna chose to alert Emily about the latest developments she received from Officer Holbrook, which I assume has Em thinking Paige leaked the details. Hanna is finally moving on from Caleb, by going on a date with Travis, it’s about time. Hey, isn’t that the guy from “The Vampire Diaries” giving Spencer advice on how to cope with her withdrawal. She discovered that her hallucinations are triggering past memories that she may have locked away. Hanna was not too pleased to be questioned again by the authorities about the possibility of Ali being alive. I’m intrigued to see where this may be heading.
Spencer received a visit from Mrs. DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) about the bridal shower show that she is planning. It was an awkward moment, but it almost felt as if Mrs. D was sending a message to the smartest liar of them all. Did she just indicate she knew what Spencer did and that she was responsible for leaving that nasty note? Is Mrs. D “A?”
It appears the best way to get over a broken heart is to move onto someone else, just talk to Aria! Mike was frantic with Emily in regards to being dumped by Mona; jeez the guy is blaming his sis, who isn’t even in town. On her torturous run, a flashback showed Spence chasing Ali with a shovel and whacking her BFF with a shovel. This is a first “PLL” fans, I don’t recall seeing blood of that magnitude on the series. Could Spencer really be the suspect in Ali’s attempted murder? She decided to confide to Dane about that mysterious night of Ali’s disappearance, but she was careful to keep things under wraps.
Emily decided to confront Mona about her latest stint, well aware that Mr. Fitz was pulling the strings. Mona admitted she knew about Mr. Fitz’s book to assist him as long as he didn’t turn her into the authorities. She admitted she was using Mike to begin with, and she revealed that Ezra may know who came to visit Mona in Radley.
Aria finally decided to confront Ezra about his betrayal, and she informed him its best for him to leave Rosewood permanently. He attempted to reason with her, but she was adamant about severing lines with her beau. He admitted that she should read his manuscript, as it contains information that could ‘really’ help her. I have an inkling that things may not turn out well for Mr. Fitz, especially if “A” is onto his antics. Intrigued, Aria began reading the manuscript and sent an S.O.S. signal to all of the ladies to update them on what she has discovered.
Getting to the good stuff, Aria admitted she thought Mona leaked the anonymous tip, but Hanna spotted a blue envelope from Paige. Bombshell of the night came from the one and only Aria, as she revealed that “A” is possibly Mrs. DiLaurentis! Hmm, not possible, as ‘The Lady in Black’ is endgame. Remember she appeared at Wilden’s funeral and Mrs. D was also in attendance with the other liars, so that rules Mrs. D out as “A,” but I have a feeling that she knows who the guilty party is. Spencer admitted to the ladies that she may have attempted to hurt Ali with a shovel. Hanna confronted Emily about telling Paige that Alison is alive.
In a tender moment on the show, Aria tried to heal her brother’s broken heart, just as Mrs. Hastings caught Spencer red-handed sneaking into the house and asked her mom what she ‘covered’ during the summer that she was using. She remained cryptic which makes me wonder whatever Spencer did was big.
Right before heading to bed, Spence hallucinated seeing something outside her window. The final moments saw a bridal dress being trimmed by “A” and being placed in a body bag. Next week marks the penultimate episode leading into the season four finale of “PLL.” I’m quite concerned as the tease signified something BIG happening to Spencer. Could one of the liars meet their fate? Until next Tuesday “PLL” fanatics!
