SAN FRANCISCO—On Saturday, May 9, at around 8:57 p.m., the new humanoid robotic store, REK Shop, which is located at 1415 Van Ness Avenue in the Nob Hill neighborhood, a fight occurred between two Chinese humanoid robots, EngineAI PM01 and Unitree G1, battling it out in a boxing ring.

These robots were controlled by humans with virtual reality (VR) headsets. The data collected will be used to train AI models on real bipedal combat. They were filmed and posted by @cixliv on X. In the video, it shows the robots’ punches knocking each other down and kicks, offering a preview into robot-on-robot combat, springing up from the City’s AI boom. The event is called “Peak SF,” part of the “Silicon Colosseum,” a series of underground, human-controlled, robotic fights.

The 61-second video of a robotic fight was a promotional demonstration for America’s first humanoid robot retail store, REK (Robot Entertainment Kombat). REK is running as a retail and repair shop, but its future plans are to have nightly robot fights, which will lead up to its formal, commercial, summer opening.

The first underground robot fight club events began as secret, exclusive gatherings in San Francisco called Silicon Colosseum in July 2025. By September 2025, it gained widespread media attention when VR-controlled humanoid matches were publicly showcased at Temple Nightclub, and larger brawls were held at Kezar Pavilion. Another event is in the planning stages set for November.
