HOLLYWOOD—Robert Evans, 89, the former Chief of Production at Paramount Studios died on Saturday, October 26. Evans was known for his work on blockbuster movies including “Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Godfather,” and “Love Story.” Evans worked as a writer, actor, and producer.
Evans, whose real name is Robert J. Shapera, was born in New York on June 29, 1930. His parents were Florence Krasne and Archie Shapera. Robert, who went by the nickname ‘Bobby’ was raised in Manhattan and started his acting career in radio. He was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar for his work on the 1975 drama “Chinatown” starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. He was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002. He also served as a producer on the films “Black Sunday,” “Urban Cowboy” “The Saint,” “The Out-Of-Towners” and “How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days.”
He suffered a stroke in May 1998 and suffered several more cerebrovascular accidents in 2013, which led to a decline in his health.
Evans leaves behind his son Josh Evans and one grandson.
