SANTA ROSA—Officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department are investigating a carjacking involving two suspects in Southwest Santa Rosa. The victim, who was not injured during the incident, contacted the police department around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18. At the time of the call, the victim was in the area of West 3rd Street and Dutton Avenue.

The car, a 2005 Yellow Ford Van, was found ablaze shortly after the initial call came into authorities on the 1900 block of Ridley Street. Firefighters were able to extinguish the burning vehicle. It is unclear why the suspects abandoned the car before setting it on fire . The victim informed authorities he was approached by the two assailants while parked on the side of a local road.

He proceeded to attest, but one of the suspects brandished a firearm demanding his wallet, his cellphone, and keys to the vehicle. The Sonoma County Alliance “Take Back Our Community Program” is offering a $2,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects in the case.

Due to the fact that the victim was unable to give police an account of the perpetrator’s appearances, there is no physical description of the suspects available.

Officials are withholding the identity of the victim. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department Violent Crimes Investigations Team at (707) 543-3590.
