SAN FRANCISCO—A week of continuous rain has caused flooding across various locations in the Bay Area, creating hazardous driving conditions. Precautionary measures have resulted in the temporary shutting down of highways subject to flooding.
At least eight highways have been closed as the result of stormy or wet-weather related damage, CalTrans officials noted.
Platform Bridge Road in Marin County was closed after significant flooding, while Panoramic Highway was closed between Highway 1 & Throckmorton Fire Station. Highway 1, south of Tomales was closed as well.
Crow Canyon Road, Castro Valley was closed between Norris Canyon Road & Bollinger Canyon Road in Alameda county due to mudslides.
U.S. Route 395 from Topaz Lane (Coleville) to Jct. 89, was closed after high winds caused fallen trees and tree limbs. Highway 70 was closed between Jarbo Gap (Butte) to Greenville Wye (Plumas) due to flooding.
All lanes have been closed on State Route 84 between Blackwelder and Airport Road in Solano County due to flooding. The estimated time of opening is 4 p.m., officials said.
State Route 299 west of Weaverville has been closed due to the storm and will remain closed through Friday morning.
Drivers have been cautioned to avoid driving through flooded roads.
