SAN FRANCISCO—On Monday, February 24, the San Francisco Fire Department reported that they battled a one-alarm fire on the 2100 block of 3rd Street at a seven-story multi-residential complex.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one apartment unit by responding under three minutes to stop the fire from spreading. The fire was caused by an accident involving a cooking appliance. There were no reports of any injuries as a result. Two adults were displaced as a result of the fire.
“Thank you to the many tenants who evacuated when the fire alarm sounded. This allows firefighters to focus on putting the fire out rather than rescuing or assisting occupants out of the building, especially the dozens of pet owners, who obviously had a plan and had carriers food and water pre-established for their pets as they exited the building and waited in a safe, designated location,” the SFFD noted on Facebook.
