SAN FRANCISCO— The San Francisco Fire Department held a ceremony on Thursday, April 11, for their members who display Meritorious conduct that show actions that go above and beyond the call of duty.

Joanne Haynes- White, Fire Chief, said, “Our members consider everything that they do as their call of duty, but it’s important for them to know that their actions don’t go unnoticed. Day in and day out, our members do really great things. This is a time that we set aside to acknowledge them and to thank them for upholding the finest traditions of the San Francisco Fire Department…saving lives and property. This is also an opportunity for their families to see why the sacrifices they make to support their loved ones are worth it.”

The awards for meritorious conduct  can be from on and off duty that range  from stopping an aggressor in the midst of assaulting a woman to a daring rescue of a couple in a blazed apartment,  200 people are attended the event for Meritorious Awards. It was held at 6:30p.m. at Delancey Street Club Room, which is located at 600 Embarcadero in San Francisco.
